KRC Genk have officially confirmed the signing of Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi, making him the club’s most expensive signing in history.
The Belgian Pro League side unveiled the 23-year-old on their X page on Thursday, posing him in Genk colours alongside the club’s iconic mining tower landmark, with a “Welcome, Rafiu” graphic confirming the move.
The transfer is worth €10.5 million, according to Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, with the deal including performance-related bonuses while Pisa retain a 10 percent sell-on clause. The fee eclipses Genk’s previous record of €7 million, paid for Theo Bongonda in 2019.
Durosinmi joined Pisa from Czech side Viktoria Plzeň in January for around €9 million but struggled to make an impact in Italy, scoring just once in 12 competitive appearances as the club suffered relegation from Serie A. His form before that dip remains impressive, having recorded 35 goals and 10 assists in 86 appearances during his time at Viktoria Plzen.
Genk have a strong track record of developing Nigerian forwards into top-level talents. Paul Onuachu became one of the league’s most prolific strikers before earning a Premier League move, while Tolu Arokodare revived his career at the club, winning the Belgian Pro League Golden Boot before joining Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Standing at 1.92 metres, Durosinmi fits the profile of the powerful centre-forward Genk have traditionally developed, and the club will be hoping he can follow the same path as his predecessors.
