Ghana, Cote D’Ivoire Edge Closer To Securing World Cup Tickets As Mali Suffer Setback

The Black Stars of Ghana and defending champions of the Africa Cup of Nations Cote D’Ivoire are close to securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana Black Stars took a stwp closer to qualifying for the World Cup after a convincing win over Madagascar away from home.

Otto Addo’s men came into the match on the back of a comprehensive 5-0 win over Chad on Thursday in Accra replicated the form against the “home side” on Monday night.

Arsenal’s midfielder Thomas Partey bagged a brace on the night while Westham’s Mohammed Kudus also found the back of the net in the 3-0 win.

Ghana’s victory over Chad and Madagascar take the Black Stars to 15 points from six matches as they go top of Group I.

Meanwhile Cote D’Ivoire also took a big step towards qualification as well with a slim win over Gambia on Monday night.

The reigning champions of Africa secured a 1-0 in Abidjan to maintain their spot on top of Group F with 16 points – a point above Gabon in second place.

Meanwhile Mali missed the opportunity to close the gap on Ghana as the Eagles were held to a stalemate away at Central Africa Republic.
