Gift Orban bagged a second-half hat-trick as Amedspor thrashed İstanbul Başakşehir 5-0 in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday to extend his blistering form in the league.
The 24-year-old striker draws level with Victor Osimhen at the top of the league’s scoring charts with six goals apiece.
Gift Orban scored the goals after the break, rising to meet a Furkan Soyalp cross for his first before finishing off two separate Ermal Krasniqi assists to complete his treble inside a 23-minute span.
The hat-trick, his second career treble against Başakşehir following a similar feat for Gent in the 2023 Europa Conference League, took Orban’s tally for the campaign to six goals in just five league appearances since joining Amedspor on loan from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim in the summer.
That return draws him level with Galatasaray star and Super Eagles captain Victor Osimhen, who also has six league goals this season, though the latter reached that figure in just four appearances before a hamstring injury sidelined him, adding two assists along the way.
Orban has now scored in three consecutive matches matches, finding the net against Trabzonspor, Kasımpaşa and Başakşehir since the start of the campaign, and his form has fired Amedspor up to third place in the early Super Lig standings.
Orban’s form firmly places him in contention for a recall to the Super Eagles, ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign against Madagascar on September 25, followed by a trip to face Guinea-Bissau.
