Emmanuel Amunike’s Heartland have ended their winless streak after a comfortable win over Kano Pillars in Owerri.
Samuel Agu scored twice as Heartland put an end to their seven-game winless run in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
Heartland last won a match in the league in February – a 2-1 home win over Shooting Stars.
The Nazi Millionaires went on a poor run of form afterward with four losses and four draws. Emmanuel Amunike’s side also crashed out of the President’s FA Cup on penalties to oriental rival and defending champions Enugu Rangers on Wednesday.
Heartland moved from 17 to 16 on the log with a point above Akwa United who play away at Nasarawa United on Sunday.
Bendel Insurance and Enugu Rangers settled for a draw at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Saturday evening.
The match ended in a stalemate as both sides picked a point each. The two teams occupy the fifth and sixth positions on the log with the same points – 46.
