Barcelona sporting director Deco has opened up on Lamine Yamal’s contract situation.
In a chat with RAC1 (via Barca Blaugranes), Deco revealed that the club is on track to lock in a new long-term contract for the 17-year-old winger, with the deal set to be finalized once Yamal turns 18 in July.

“He didn’t ask to be the highest-paid player on the team — that’s not true. He just wants to be happy here,” Deco said.
“It’s not about whether he’s 17 or 26. Football has to be fair, and he has to have a contract that suits him; the most important thing is that he’s happy. And there’s no better club for him than Barça.”

Meanwhile, Barcelona are interested in strengthening this summer and have been linked with Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford and Liverpool’s Luis Diaz.
The plan is to improve the squad for manager Hansi Flick significantly, and create competition for the likes of Raphinha and 36-year-old Robert Lewandowski.
