How Super Falcons will win WAFCON 2025 – Justin Madugu
Ahead of Super Falcons opener against Tunisia at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday, coach Justin Madugu has highlighted how his team will approach the games.
Speaking in a pre-match conference on Saturday afternoon, Madugu revealed that they are no longer minnows in African football.
He added that all the teams in the tournament earned their place through the qualifiers just like the Super Falcons did.
Consequently, the Super Falcons gaffer says his team will approach each match with respect and seriousness it deserves.
He also added that his team won’t underrate their opponents even if they have better record over them in previous meetings.
There are no minnows as far as football is considered in Africa. You can’t consider anybody as a minnow. Looking at the results that were posted during the qualifiers, i think we wouldn’t consider anybody a weak team.
Yes, some teams can he stronger than the other but they cannot be considered as weak teams because they have also gone through the qualifiers and won their matches to be here.
We (Super Falcons) are not taking any team for granted on the assumption that we have won all our previous matches against them and so we think it’s going to easy.
No games will be easy, we will approach them with all the seriousness and respect they deserve”
Nigeria are chasing a record tenth title and will start their quest against Tunisia on Sunday July 6 at the Stade Larbi Zouli in Casablanca.
The Super Falcons are in Group B alongside the North Africans, Algeria and Botswana.
