Paris Saint-Germain have suffered a significant setback with Ballon d’Or favorite Ousmane Dembele ruled out for an extended period due to a hamstring injury.
Dembele got injured in France’s 2-0 win over Ukraine in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, with Michael Olise and Kylian Mbappe bagging the goals for Les Blues.

The 28-year-old winger, who was instrumental in PSG’s Champions League triumph last season, is expected to miss up to six weeks. This absence will see him sidelined for crucial matches, including PSG’s Champions League opener against Atalanta and the high-stakes “Clasico” against Marseille.
Dembele’s injury frustration is compounded by PSG’s anger towards France coach Didier Deschamps for playing him despite recent fitness concerns.
The ex-Barca man remains the firm favourite to win the coveted Ballon d’Or after scoring 35 goals and contributing 16 assists last season.
Any prolonged absence could be hard to overcome for PSG as they look to defend their League and European titles.
