Mohammed Salah revealed that he didn’t think about equalling Sergio Aguero’s 184 Premier League goals before the match against Southampton.
The current Premier League leading scorer however revealed that he was aware of it but didn’t deliberately chase the record.
Nevertheless, Mohammed Salah bagged a brace to equal the record as Liverpool came from a goal down to beat Southampton at Anfield.
Salah scored two second half penalties against the Saints as the Reds continue their second Premier League title charge.
The 32-year-old marked the win with a personal record as he equalled Sergio Aguero’s tally on the Premier League all-time top scorers chart.
He went on to praise the Manchester City legend for his achievement and contribution to the league.
“I knew about the record but I didn’t think about it while I was playing. It’s a good record to be equalising!”.
“Sergio is a great player, he was a legend here for the league. So I’m happy about that”.
Mohammed Salah is now the joint-fifth Premier League all-time topscorer alongside Sergio Aguero with 184 goals.
Salah with 27 league goals at the moment and 11 matches to the end of the season, will most likely topple Andy Cole in fourth position.
The former Manchester United striker has three goals more than the Egyptian forward.
Meanwhile Liverpool’s might go 19 points clear on the Premier League table if Arsenal fail to get a win against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
