Brentford striker Yoane Wissa is reportedly at odds with the club’s management and has refused to rejoin first-team training.
According to Sky Sports, the 28-year-old forward, who has become a fan favorite, is said to be deeply frustrated by the lack of clarity and communication from Brentford’s hierarchy regarding his future.
Wissa has caught the attention of Newcastle United, who tabled a £25 million bid for the striker, only for Brentford to swiftly reject it, insisting that their star player is not for sale.
This firm stance has left Wissa feeling unsettled, prompting him to leave Brentford’s pre-season training camp in Portugal last week to return to England for discussions with the club. Unfortunately, those talks have failed to resolve the ongoing tension, leaving Wissa’s future uncertain.
The Bees are understandably hesitant to part with another key figure after a challenging summer that saw manager Thomas Frank depart for Tottenham, winger Bryan Mbeumo join Manchester United, and captain Christian Nørgaard move to Arsenal.
For Wissa, however, the situation feels personal, as he hopes for a resolution that aligns with his ambitions.
Newcastle’s interest remains a glimmer of hope for the forward, who is eager for the Magpies to return with an improved offer, as the lure of Champions League football has proven hard to resist.
