Enyimba FC secured a 2-1 victory over Nasarawa United in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match on Wednesday evening.
The match, held at Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, was poised to be heading goalless at the break before Joseph Atule broke the deadlock to give the hosts the lead in the last minute of first half stoppage time.
Nasarawa United drew level in the 58th minute through Anas Yusuf. New signing, Brown Ideye was introduced as a substitute in the 59th minute. Ideye made an immediate impact by scoring his first NPFL goal just four minutes to restore the lead for the hosts. This goal eventually proved to be the winning goal as Enyimba held on to secure all three points.
This win comes shortly after Enyimba’s recent success in the CAF Confederation Cup, where they defeated Black Bulls of Mozambique.
Enyimba’s victory against Nasarawa United marks a positive turn in their NPFL campaign, demonstrating the team’s resilience and the significant contributions of players like Ideye and Atule.
They now sit in 7th place with 27 points in 17 games while Nasarawa sit at the bottom of the table, accumulating 19 points from 19 games.
