Ipswich Town have finally won a home game this season after an impressive 2-0 victory over Chelsea on Monday night.
Liam Delap and Omari Hutchinson scored in the first and second half respectively to hand the Blues another defeat within four days.
Chelsea’s goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen brought down Liam Delap in the box on the 10th minute and referee John Brooks pointed to the spot.
The 21-year-old striker powered a low drive into the bottom left corner to give the home side the lead.
Ipswich Town had Chelsea under siege as Delap volleyed a shot towards goal but Jorgensen made a brilliant save to deny the striker from doubling the lead.
Chelsea eventually settled into the game and the Blues first chance fell to Christopher Nkunku who shot at goal from a rebound but the goalkeeper pulled off a brilliant save to deny him.
Joao Felix thought he had equalized for Chelsea as he powered a left-footed strike into the top corner from Cole Palmer’s pass but his goal was ruled for offaide.
Liam Delap continued to torment Chelsea’s defense with his pace and power. The 21-year-old striker found his way past Chelsea’s defense line and powered a shot on goal but got denied once again.
Ipswich goalkeeper was also busy at the other end as he denied Cole Palmer’s sublime striker towards goal in added time of the first half.
Liam Delap was a handful for Chelsea’s defense and this time the striker provided the assist to Omari Hutchinson goal seven minutes into the second half.
The winger found space in the box and fired a neat shot into the back of the net to double the lead for Ipswich Town.
Filip Jorgensen was unarguably the busiest player on the pitch on the night as he made a handful of saves to keep the scoreline respectable.
