Former UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya has set the MMA world abuzz after posting a training video featuring fellow Nigerian and former welterweight king, Kamaru Usman.
The clip, shared via Adesanya’s official Instagram page late Friday, shows the two UFC icons engaged in an intense sparring and conditioning session, reigniting excitement about their future in the Octagon.
The video, captioned “Finally getting to move with my brother, Kamaru. These moments are for life, legacy and history”, captures Adesanya and Usman working side by side at a high-performance gym in Kill Cliff FC in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
Adesanya suffered a third straight loss to Nassourdine Imavov at UFC Saudi Arabia in early 2025.
Fans and pundits alike have flooded the comments section with praise and curiosity, with many wondering if the clip signals a new phase for the “Stylebender.”
Usman, who also took a step back from fighting after his UFC 294 bout with Khamzat Chimaev, has remained active in the MMA community and appears to be lending support to his compatriot.
Though neither fighter has confirmed any upcoming bouts, the timing of the video comes amid rumors that Adesanya is eyeing a return for UFC’s summer slate.
This rare training session between two of Africa’s greatest fighters also represents a moment of unity and mutual respect. Adesanya and Usman have often expressed admiration for each other’s achievements, and this collaboration only strengthens their bond as pioneers of African excellence in the UFC.
