Liverpool manager Arne Slot has acknowledged the threat posed by Arsenal and Chelsea in the Premier League title race.
The two London clubs impressed with convincing wins over the weekend, with Arsenal thrashing West Ham 5-2 and Chelsea defeating Aston Villa 3-0. These results have left both teams nine points behind Liverpool, while the Reds have opened up an 11-point gap over champions Manchester City.
Despite their lead, Slot remains cautious, saying: “It’s not that special for us to be on top of the Premier League or Champions League.”
Slot emphasized that Liverpool’s players are accustomed to competing at the highest level, stating: “This club, this team, these players are used to being top of the league and competing for every trophy. They have experienced this.”
Slot also highlighted the challenges of maintaining a high level of performance throughout the season, saying: “They also know it’s a long season and to win the league against the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and [Manchester] City – because I see those three as our main competitors – that you have to be on top of our game for 10 months.”
