Former Super Eagles coach Finidi George has expressed shock at Bright Osayi-Samuel’s surprising transfer from Fenerbahce to newly promoted Championship side Birmingham City.
The move caught many off guard, especially with rumors linking the 27-year-old right-back to Premier League club Crystal Palace.

Osayi-Samuel was expected to move to the top-flight, but after failing to extend his contract with Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe, he signed a three-year deal with Birmingham City.

Finidi, who coached Osayi-Samuel during his short tenure with the Super Eagles, was surprised by the decision, believing the defender could have targeted a bigger club.
“I really do not know his motive for not renewing with Fenerbahçe and going back to England,” Finidi said.

“For me, I think players should be aiming high while they still have the energy and age on their side to play at the highest level. That is what I was expecting from Bright.
“He is a good player who I believe can play in the big leagues and with big clubs, with due respect to Birmingham City.”
