Manchester City and Belgium forward, Jérémy Baffour Doku, has obtained his Ghanaian passport, confirming his citizenship.
Jérémy Doku received his passport at the office of Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa, on Monday, July 21st, 2025.
Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa wrote that Doku and his family expressed their interest in obtaining the passport a week ago as he continues to connect with his roots.

Jérémy Baffour Doku receives a Ghanaian passport for the first time. This was the wish of Jérémy and his family when they called on me last week — glad we successfully delivered chip-embedded passports today. As a dual citizen he is legally entitled to a Ghanaian passport. This significant development confirms Jérémy Baffour Doku’s commitment to fully reconnect with Ghana despite playing for Belgium. I wish him the very best in his illustrious career.
The 23-year-old was accompanied by his family as he received his Ghanaian passport at the office of the Minister.
Jérémy Doku was born to Ghanian parents, David and Belinda, in the port city of Antwerp, Belgium, on the 27th of May, 2002. Doku grew up with an elder brother, also a footballer, and two younger sisters.
The Manchester City forward has been spending the off-season in Ghana with his family in a bid to bond with his culture and traditions of his native land.
