Renowned British-Nigerian boxer, Anthony Joshua recently paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at his residence in Lagos.
During the meeting, Joshua presented the President with an autographed boxing glove inscribed with the message: “To the Great Asiwaju Jagaban Borgu of Africa, Bola A. Tinubu.”
President Tinubu expressed his admiration for Joshua, stating, “Anthony Joshua’s dedication and achievements continue to inspire millions daily. Thank you for the autographed glove—it is a symbol of perseverance and excellence. A symbol of what Nigerians are known for. We are Nigeria. Proudly Nigerian.”
Prior to meeting with President Tinubu, Joshua visited Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, who appointed him as a sports ambassador for the state.
Governor Abiodun announced plans to construct a state-of-the-art Anthony Joshua Indoor Boxing Ring in Abeokuta, aiming to promote sports development and inspire young athletes in the region.
