Nigeria Premier Professional League sides Kwara United and Abia Warriors are set to receive extra cash incentives from CAF after exiting the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Abia Warriors lost 2-1 on aggregate to Djoliba, a Malian club, while Kwara United, despite scoring three goals away from home, lost to Asante Kotoko of Ghana 5-3 on aggregate.
The Harmony Boys lost 0-1 to Asante Kotoko at the MKO Abiola Stadium on Sunday as they crashed out of the competition.
However, the two Nigerian club sides will receive an additional $50,000 each, in addition to the initial $50,000 they received, for competing in the preliminary round qualification.
Abia Warriors qualified for the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup after they finished third last season, while KwaranUnited qualified after they emerged winners of the President’s Federation Cup.
