Barcelona Return to LaLiga Summit as Celta and Sevilla Also Claim Key Wins

Sunday’s LaLiga Matchday 25 produced decisive results at the top and mid-table as several teams pushed their season objectives with confidence.

At the Camp Nou, FC Barcelona delivered a commanding 3-0 victory over Levante, reclaiming first place in the LaLiga standings. Marc Bernal broke the deadlock early before Frenkie de Jong added a second with a composed finish. Substitute Fermin Lopez sealed the win in the second half, completing a controlled and efficient performance from Barcelona and keeping them a point ahead of rivals Real Madrid at the summit. 

Laliga Result ; Celta Vigo

Celta Vigo continued their upward push with a spirited 2-0 victory against RCD Mallorca at Balaídos. Veteran forward Iago Aspas turned the game in Celta’s favour with a late opener from the penalty spot and added a second deep into stoppage time, lifting Celta into contention for a European qualification spot while leaving Mallorca in the relegation zone. 

Elsewhere, Getafe fell to a 1-0 defeat against Sevilla FC as Sevilla claimed a valuable away win that moves them further from the relegation fray. Meanwhile, goals from P. Gueye in the 45+6 minute and Comesana in the 31 minute was enough to see Villarreal come from a one goal down to defeat Valencia 2:1.

Impact on the Laliga Table

With the latest results confirmed, Barcelona sit atop LaLiga with 61 points, one ahead of Real Madrid after 25 games.

Villarreal and Atlético Madrid remain in the top four, with both clubs continuing to push for European places, meanwhile Celta Vigo’s win lifts them into contention for continental qualification, while teams like Mallorca and Levante remain embroiled in the battle to avoid relegation.
