Leon Balogun has announced his departure from Scottish Premier League Glasgow Rangers, ending his second stint at the club.
The Super Eagles defender shared an emotional message on his X page as he bid farewell to the club’s fans and management.
Leon Balogun expressed his regret for not getting the opportunity to say a proper farewell to the fans, despite featuring in Rangers’ last three home matches, in the message he shared on his X page.
If I had known that the last 2 games of the season were my last for the club, I would have made sure to say goodbye to all of you accordingly. Unfortunately, I wasn’t afforded that opportunity, which saddens me as I would have liked to have walked round Ibrox one last time and returned all the love and support you’ve given me during my 2 stints. I don’t know when I’ll be back, but I promise I won’t be a stranger. Thank you for making me feel at home and appreciated wherever we met.”
Balogun enjoyed an amazing career in the light blue shirt on his two stints at the club, as he played an important role en route to the club’s 2021 Europa League run as Rangers reached the final.
The defender was also instrumental to Rangers’ historic 55th Scottish Premier League title win under Steven Gerrard and the Scottish Cup victory a year later.
Leon Balogun’s second return to Rangers as a free agent added experience to the backline, which led to a Scottish League Cup triumph in 2023.
Over two stints with Rangers, Leon Balogun had 114 appearances, scored three goals, and provided four assists.
