It was a thrilling day of action in Ligue 1 on Saturday, headlined by Lille’s stunning 6–1 home victory over Metz.
The northern side produced a ruthless attacking display to climb back into the European places, while Lyon, Angers, Le Havre and Nice also celebrated important wins in their respective fixtures.
At the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, Lille were unstoppable from the outset, overwhelming Metz with pace and precision. Hamza Igamane opened the scoring before Félix Correia struck twice to make it 3–0 before the hour mark.
Romain Perraud, Benjamin André and Hákon Arnar Haraldsson all added to the tally in a dominant performance. Ibou Sané grabbed a late consolation for Metz, but the damage had long been done. The result lifts Lille into fifth, while Metz remain mired near the bottom.

In Lyon, Olympique Lyonnais edged Strasbourg 2–1 after a tense contest. An own goal by Ismaël Doukouré gave Lyon an early advantage, but Strasbourg fought hard before Afonso Moreira’s dramatic injury-time strike sealed all three points for the hosts, sparking jubilation at the Groupama Stadium.
Angers also enjoyed a strong outing, recording a comfortable 2–0 win over Lorient. The home side looked composed and clinical, maintaining control for most of the encounter to secure their third victory of the campaign and pile more pressure on a Lorient team struggling for form.
Elsewhere, Le Havre claimed a valuable 1–0 away win at Auxerre thanks to a solitary goal by Abdoulaye Toure that proved enough in a tight, tactical battle. The result gives Le Havre a timely boost as they continue to build momentum in mid-table.
In the day’s late fixture, Nice produced an impressive away performance to defeat Rennes 2–1. Sofiane Diop and Jonathan Clauss scored in quick succession before half-time, and although Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal pulled one back for Rennes, Nice held firm to take a deserved victory on the road.
The weekend’s results tightened the upper half of the Ligue 1 table. Paris Saint-Germain remain on top with 20 points, just ahead of Lens, Marseille, and Lyon. Lille and Monaco follow closely on 17, while Nice’s win moved them into the top eight.
