Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table with a commanding 4-1 win over Ipswich Town at Anfield. Cody Gakpo was instrumental in the victory, contributing two goals and an assist.
The Reds asserted their dominance early in the match. In the 11th minute, Dominik Szoboszlai unleashed a powerful shot from just outside the box, beating Ipswich goalkeeper Christian Walton to open the scoring.
Liverpool continued to press, and in the 35th minute, Gakpo delivered a precise pass to Mohamed Salah, who netted his 100th goal at Anfield, doubling the lead.
Just before halftime, in the 44th minute, Szoboszlai’s shot was parried by Walton, but Gakpo was quick to capitalize on the rebound, slotting the ball home to make it 3-0.
Liverpool maintained their momentum into the second half. In the 66th minute, Trent Alexander-Arnold delivered a pinpoint cross, which Gakpo met with a header, securing his second goal of the match and Liverpool’s fourth.
Ipswich managed to score a consolation goal in the 90th minute when Jacob Greaves headed in a corner from Julio Enciso, denying Liverpool a clean sheet.
This victory solidifies Liverpool’s position at the summit of the Premier League, now holding 53 points, six points clear of second-placed Arsenal. Ipswich Town remains in the relegation zone with 16 points, facing an uphill battle to avoid the drop.
