Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah has finalized his transfer to Bayer Leverkusen, prompting the Premier League champions to target Crystal Palace’s England star Marc Guehi as his replacement.
Leverkusen, who lost key players like Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong to Liverpool last month after Xabi Alonso’s move to Real Madrid was confirmed, have been active in the transfer market.

Now led by former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, who took over in May, the Bundesliga runners-up announced on Wednesday they were “delighted” to sign “one of England’s most promising centre-backs,” Quansah for a deal worth up to £35m, with a potential £5m in add-ons.
With Quansah’s exit sealed, uncertainties around Ibrahima Konate’s future beyond next season, and Joe Gomez’s recurring injuries, Liverpool are moving fast to bolster their defense.

They’ve entered advanced talks with Palace’s Marc Guehi, who led his team to FA Cup glory in May after Newcastle’s £50m-plus bids were rebuffed last year.
Liverpool’s revamped backline for 2025-26 will also feature Dutch right-back Frimpong and Hungary’s ex-Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez.
