Athletico Madrid are reportedly interested in signing reigning African Footballer of the Year Ademola Lookman this summer.
Diego Simeone is keen on improving his attacking options ahead of the new season, and Lookman appears to be a prime target for the Argentinian manager.
However, the Spanish La Liga side are unwilling to match Ademola Lookman’s €60 million price tag, according to reports.
Ademola Lookman joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig for €10.85 million in the 2022/2023 season after a topsy-turvy career in the United Kingdom and Germany.
However, the 27-year-old has enjoyed consistency and stability at the Bergamo-based club over the last two seasons.
Ademola Lookman scored a hat-trick in the 2023/2024 Europa League final to help Atalanta win its first European title with a 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen.
Lookman also had a decent outing last season as he helped Atalanta qualify for the next season’s UEFA Champions League with 27 goals and seven assists in 40 matches.
Ademola Lookman has also been linked to a move to Serie A champions Napoli, as his departure from Atalanta looks imminent.
