Antonio Conte’s men were quite dominant on the ball as they created the best chances in the match with five shots on target.
However, the home fans defended deep and made the visitors work extra hard before McTominay’s goal.
The win put Napoli six points behind league leaders and defending champions Inter Milan who have a game at hand.
Como dismantles Lecce
Cesc Fabregas’ Como continued their decent run of form lately as they smashed relegation threatened Lecce away from home.
Nevertheless, it was quite a keenly contested affair between the two sides as they directed a total of 13 shots towards goal in 90 minutes.

Eldor Shomorudov’s fourth-minute goal was just enough to bag maximum points for Claudio Raineri’s Roma army.
The Uzbekistani striker received Matias Soule’s pass in good position and fired home a fine strike to put the home side ahead at the Olimpico.
Shomorudov’s goal made the difference on the night as Roma stay within the reach of qualifying for Europe next season.
