Luka Modric has set ambitious goals for his new club, AC Milan, urging his teammates, including Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze, to target more than just Champions League qualification.
The 39-year-old, who won five Champions League titles and the 2018 Ballon d’Or during his 13-year tenure at Real Madrid, was unveiled by the Rossoneri this week after signing with the Italian giants.

Modric expressed a deep connection to Milan, inspired by Croatian icon Zvonimir Boban.
“I grew up watching Italian football and Milan was my favourite team, especially because of my idol Boban. I always had a particular affection for the club,” he said.
“We mustn’t be content with just qualifying for the Champions League. That is the minimum. Milan must fight to win trophies. That is my goal, and it should be the goal for everyone at this club.”

After winning the Supercoppa Italiana last season but falling short in Serie A and losing the Coppa Italia final to Bologna, Milan face a season without European football.
Modric sees this as an opportunity for coach Max Allegri to build a competitive squad. His presence is expected to galvanize young talents like Chukwueze, who aims to shine in his second season with the club.
