Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been named the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year for 2025.
Salah has delivered an exceptional individual campaign, scoring 33 goals and providing 23 assists across all competitions, playing a pivotal role in Liverpool’s Premier League title success. His relentless form and leadership on the pitch have been instrumental for the Reds.
The Egyptian forward has started every league match for Arne Slot’s side and recently ended months of speculation about his future by signing a two-year contract extension at Anfield.
This is Salah’s third time winning the prestigious award, voted on by hundreds of journalists across England, having previously claimed it in 2017-18 and 2021-22.
At 32, Salah beat out strong competition from teammates Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch, as well as Arsenal’s Declan Rice and Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, to secure this year’s accolade, cementing his status as one of the league’s all-time greats.
