Monza have reached an agreement with Inter Milan to sign young Nigerian midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro on a permanent transfer, with the move set to be completed before the end of the current window. The deal is worth €7.5 million, with Inter retaining a 10 percent sell-on clause but no buy-back option.
Akinsanmiro, the Beyond Limit Academy graduate, joined Inter Milan from Remo Stars in January 2023, a move that marked a rare and significant step up from the Nigeria National League to one of Europe’s biggest clubs. He made his first-team debut for Inter in February 2024 and was included in the squad that won the Coppa Italia during his time at the club.
Since arriving in Milan, opportunities have been limited for the 21-year-old, prompting loan spells at Sampdoria and, most recently, Pisa for the full 2025/26 Serie A season. He made 24 league appearances during that loan, impressing with his physical presence, technical ability and composure despite Pisa’s eventual relegation.
Akinsanmiro’s performances at Pisa had initially pointed toward a permanent move there, with the Tuscan club holding a €7.5 million option to sign him outright. That switch collapsed at the final stage due to a paperwork issue during the exchange of documents, reopening the door for other suitors.
His displays also caught the attention of the Super Eagles, with head coach Eric Chelle handing him his senior international debut in a friendly against Egypt ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where he was included in Nigeria’s squad.
Monza, who finished third in Serie B last season to seal an outstanding promotion campaign, believe Akinsanmiro can strengthen their midfield options as they prepare for a return to Serie A. The move offers the midfielder the stability and regular first-team football he has been seeking since his move to Italy.
The transfer comes shortly after Monza appointed Ivan Juric as head coach, with the Croatian tactician expected to make Akinsanmiro a key part of his plans for the new campaign.
