Morocco are the new champions of the FIFA Under-20 Men’s World Cup.
The young Atlas Lions stunned tournament favorites Argentina on Sunday night in Santiago to win their first-ever trophy.
Morocco postponed Argentina’s chase for a record seventh title as they recorded a convincing two-nil win.
Yassir Zabiri’s first half brace was just enough to give Morocco the win over the South Americans.
The 20-year-old Famalicao forward scored the opener with a stunning free-kick close to the edge of the box to put Morocco ahead.
Zabiri’ doubled the lead just before the half hour mark from a brilliant finish in the box to put Morocco in charge of the tie despite Argentina’s dominance in possession.
Argentina’s Lion share of possession in the second half counted for nothing as Morocco held on to their two-goal lead to become the second African team to win the tournament after Ghana did in 2009.
