Nations League: Greece pull off SHOCK win against mighty England at Wembley

Greece secured their first-ever win against England, defeating the Three Lions 2-1 in Thursday’s UEFA Nations League clash at Wembley.

Vangelis Pavlidis was the thorn in England’s side all evening, scoring both goals for Greece, including the stoppage-time winner. His first goal broke Greece’s Wembley duck, ending a 52-year wait for a goal at the iconic stadium.

Jude Bellingham appeared to have salvaged a draw for the hosts with a powerful strike in the 87th minute. The Real Madrid midfielder latched onto Dominic Solanke’s low ball, which evaded the Greek defense, and unleashed an unstoppable shot past Odysseas Vlachodimos.

However, the visitors refused to give up and their relentless pressure paid off in stoppage time as Pavlidis struck again, turning the ball into the net amidst a crowded box. England’s inability to clear their lines proved costly, but Greece’s deserved victory was sealed.

This historic win marked Greece’s first victory in this fixture in their four meetings, and Lee Carsley’s interim tenure could suffer a significant blow with this result. There is no doubt England will remain on the hunt for a new manager, and that process could be hastened after this.
