Fulham Football Club and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have shown support to Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey after the defender suffered racial attacks on social media following Fulham’s FA Cup win over Manchester United.

Bassey scored for the visitors with a header from a deflection just before halftime.

Fulham progressed to the quarter-finals on penalties 4-3 after the match ended one-all after 120 minutes.

However, the Nigerian defender came under racial attacks on social media from users believed to be fans of Manchester United.

in the face of these unacceptable actions. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all players, both on and off the field. Calvin has our unwavering support, and together, we will continue to fight against racism in football and society.

Fulham also put out a statement in support of the defender in a social media post.

We are utterly appalled at the racist and homophobic abuse received and subsequently shared by Calvin Bassey on social media after yesterday’s FA Cup tie against Manchester United.

Calvin Bassey has been impressive for Fulham this season and has helped the Cottagers keep four clean sheets.
