Cameroonian-born MMA star, Francis Ngannou was reportedly involved in a tragic motorcycle accident over the Easter weekend in Yaoundé, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old girl.
According to local media reports, the incident occurred on Sunday, April 27, in the Omnisports area of the city. The victim, identified as Ntsama Brigitte Manuella, sustained severe injuries to her arm and leg.
She was transported to the Yaoundé General Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Sources say Ngannou personally ensured she received medical attention and covered her treatment expenses.
Details surrounding the accident remain unclear, with conflicting accounts about whether Ngannou was riding the motorcycle or was in a vehicle involved in the collision. Authorities have launched an investigation to clarify the circumstances.
The accident has sparked national concern, as Ngannou is widely regarded as a national icon, known not only for his achievements in MMA and boxing but also for his philanthropic efforts in Cameroon.
The incident comes just a year after Ngannou suffered the devastating loss of his young son, Kobe, in April 2024.
Ngannou has yet to issue a public statement, but sources close to him say he is devastated by the incident. Updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
