The Super Eagles of Nigeria recorded a 3-0 victory against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic on Saturday, September 7, 2024.
During the last international break, the Nigerians suffered a 1-2 loss away to Benin Republic in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

The Super Eagles welcomed several star players such as Victor Osimhen and Troost Ekong to start the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
In a first half without many chances, Nigeria would take the lead in additional time when Ademola Lookman weaved past three defenders to score.
A few minutes to start the second, head coach Augustine Eguavoen introduced several players.
It was his fourth substitute Victor Osimhen who would grab the second goal converting a cross by Wilfred Ndidi in the 78th minute.
Lookman would get a brace with Nigeria’s third by heading in a cross by Moses Simon in the 83rd minute.
There would be no more goals as the Super Eagles ran riot in Matchday 1 against their neighbors.
The Super Eagles will now travel to Kigali to take on the Amavubi of Rwanda in the second group game scheduled for Tuesday, September 10, 2024.
