The draw for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup has been conducted in Lodz, Poland, with Nigeria handed a tough group alongside Spain, China PR and New Caledonia.
The tournament, scheduled to take place from September 5 to 27, will feature 24 countries competing across four host cities in Poland: Lodz, Katowice, Bielsko-Biała and Sosnowiec.
Nigeria were drawn in Group F with former champions Spain women’s national under-20 football team, China women’s national under-20 football team and debutants New Caledonia women’s national under-20 football team.
Hosts Poland were placed in Group A alongside Argentina, Benin and Mexico, while reigning champions North Korea women’s national under-20 football team will begin their title defence in Group E against Colombia, Costa Rica and Portugal.
Other groups will see Brazil, England, Canada and Tanzania compete in Group B, while France, Korea Republic, Ghana and Ecuador make up Group C.
Group D contains Japan, the United States, New Zealand and Italy.
The tournament is expected to produce several high-profile rematches from previous editions. Japan and the United States will renew their rivalry after meeting at both the 2018 and 2022 tournaments, while France and Korea Republic will face off again after their clash at Costa Rica 2022.
Poland 2026 will also mark the country’s first major global women’s football tournament.
Six countries, including Benin, Ecuador, New Caledonia, Poland, Portugal and Tanzania, will make their debut appearances at the competition.
Meanwhile, Korea DPR and the United States will both be chasing a record fourth FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup title.
