Nigerians angry as Ahmed Musa returns to Super Eagles squad (see reactions)

Eric Chelle has released his provisional squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the major talking point is the return of Ahmed Musa.

The Super Eagles legend is back in the squad after a long absence and Nigerian football fans online are divided on his return.

Ahmed Musa since returning to Kano Pillars for his third stint has been quite impressive with six goals in 17 matches for Masu Gida so far

Nevertheless, a cross-section of fans online have missed feelings on his return to the team as Eric Chelle looks to qualify the team for the 2026 World Cup after a very poor start to the series.

5 Things to Know About Nigeria vs Iran Friendly

1. Ugo

NFF politics already showing its hand.

Why am I seeing Ahmed Musa please?

2. Nsisong Benjamin

Kelechi Iheanacho and Ahmed Musa have no business in Super Eagle

3. Kavs The Kid

No offense but what’s Ahmed Musa still doing in that roaster na , the man is a damn legend, give him his flowers and byebye

4. Mr. Franklin

What the hell is Ahmed musa coming to do here same with A certain kelechi iheanacho that is yet to score a goal this season

Is this coach normal?

5. Paul Edokpayi

Meanwhile,I won’t be surprised if Iheanacho and Ahmed Musa still make the main list of invited players. There is nothing we have not seen before. It is this same attitude that has put us in a difficult situation for world cup qualification.

6. Akunne

14 strikers is way too much for even a provisional list. That Tolu Arokodare guy is ass. Onuachu, Iheanacho, and Ahmed Musa shouldn’t be invited. Just way too much going on.

7. Tochukwu

Somebody should explain to me why Ahmed Musa is still playing ? Is he not too old ?Didn’t he play with them Mikel Obi, Osaze & co

8. CherryRanger1

What the fuck is Ahmed musa doing here could have called up much more well deserving guys in the NPFL

What is Ahmed Musa doing on that list?
These are the issues setting us back as a footballing nation. His time has passed.

10. Lhawboy

Aribo, Iheanacho and Musa don’t have any business in the super eagles again

11. Nawas

It’s good to have @Ahmedmusa718 back in the team, his experience and his leadership is very important. And Victor B needs to step up his game, he is yet to have a good game with the national despite his undeniable talent. Lastly i hope we will see the iwobi we have been seeing in Fulham shirt this season.

12. Okenwa

Nobody should complain about Ahmed Musa. First, he’s doing very well in the league and most importantly we need his experience as a leader in the team. I’m happy for Tolu and Chrisantus Uche

13. Terry

Aribo, Iheanacho, and Musa should no longer be part of the Super Eagles. These players occupy the spots of potential future stars, and our coach should have invited some of the best players from the NPL.

14. Monsieur John

I love this list from the goalkeeper dept to the attack……

We are getting the whole 6points from both game

15. Whereisk9

Seeing names like Ahmed Musa, Kelechi Ihenancho, Samuel Chukwueze, Paul Onuachu and Sanusi. Maybe it’s a reunion cause it’s laughable.

16. Oluwashweet

Moses Simon and Ahmed musa no suppose deh Inside Provisional list na

Both of them should have retired from international duties especially Ahmed Musa

You know how many NC he play

Even if na bench he go deh dem kon say make he just deh chop space ni

17. Mabinu

Armed Musa ke. Let the man enjoy another role in the Super Eagles and let someone else fill that slot. Armed Musa can be part of the coaching staff

18. Sinzu B

All these ihenacho and chukwueze are not needed in the squad, people that can’t defend their starting shirt in their various clubs or someone that’s plays in a lower division. it’s just wrong. allow some of these NPFL boiz the chance. Adefilani is a better than Ihenacho right now

19. John O

Iheanacho, Sadiq Umar, Ahmed Musa & Aribo should make the final list, then I’ll have to accept that this new coach too is heading towards failure.

By the way, it’ll make sense if Tosin Adarabioyo gets a call up in the near future too.

20. Lazy Skillz

Yusuf AlHassan – OUT
Sadiq Umar – OUT
Iheanacho – OUT
Ahmed Musa – OUT
Amas – OUT
