Nigeria’s Flamingos lose 0-2 to USA, knocked out of FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup

The FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup journey of Nigeria's Flamingos is over after losing 0-2 to the USA in a quarterfinal rematch.

The Flamingos, Nigeria’s national football squad for under-17 girls have been knocked out of the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

In a quarterfinal match on Saturday, October 26, 2024, the team led by coach Bankole Olowookere lost 0–2 to their international counterparts from the USA.

The match was a rematch of the two nations’ quarterfinal match from the 2022 tournament in India.

The USA were awarded a penalty in the 40th minute and Kennedy Fuller converted to give the Americans the lead.

The FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup journey of Nigeria's Flamingos is over after losing 0-2 to the USA in a quarterfinal rematch.

Fuller found Kimmi Acsanio to slide in the second goal for the USA in the 74th minute.

Despite making a number of adjustments, the Flamingos failed to mount a comeback.

The Flamingos who won all three of their group matches are now eliminated in the knockout stage.

The USA advanced to the semifinals, where they will play the winner of the match between Poland and North Korea.
