Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie made an immediate impact on her Women’s Super League debut as she produced a commanding display to earn Brighton a 0–0 draw against Aston Villa on the opening weekend of the new season.
The 24-year-old Super Falcons star, who joined Brighton from French side Paris FC this summer, was at her brilliant best in goal, pulling off four crucial saves to deny Villa and secure a valuable point for her new side.
Nnadozie arrived in England with a glowing reputation, having won the Division 1 Féminine Goalkeeper of the Season award in France and played a key role in Paris FC’s Coupe de France Féminine triumph.
She wasted no time in justifying Brighton’s faith, delivering the kind of assured performance that will be vital as the Seagulls aim to push higher up the WSL table this campaign.
Her clean sheet also earned her a place among the league’s standout performers of the week, alongside Tottenham’s Lize Kop and Manchester United’s Phallon Tullis-Joyce, further proof of her seamless transition into English football.
