NPFL: Enyimba, Plateau, Kwara secure wins

On Sunday, March 9, 2025, six matches took place in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), delivering a mix of thrilling performances and strategic battles.

Here’s a detailed recap of the day’s action:

 

Plateau United 1-0 Abia Warriors

At the Rwang Pam Stadium, Plateau United secured a 1-0 victory over Abia Warriors. The home side dominated with a 54th minute penalty converted by Olawale Doyeni sealing the win. Abia Warriors struggled to penetrate Plateau United’s solid defense, resulting in a clean sheet for the hosts.

Kwara United 2-0 Kano Pillars

At the Kwara Sports Stadium in Ilorin, Kwara United secured a convincing victory over Kano Pillars. The opening goal came in the 21st minute after a well-converted Wasiu Alalade penalty. Wasiu Jimoh sealed the win in the 52nd minute as it ended 2-0 in favour of the hosts.

 

Nasarawa United 1-1 Sunshine Stars

The Lafia City Stadium witnessed an exciting 1-1 draw between Nasarawa United and Sunshine Stars.

Nasarawa opened the scoring early in the 5th minute through Idris Ajiya, but the visitors responded promptly in the 35th minute through Liman Ahmadu as the match concluded with both sides sharing the spoils.

Enyimba 1-0 El-Kanemi Warriors

Enyimba secured all three points at the Enyimba Stadium with a narrow 1-0 victory El-Kanemi Warriors. The decisive goal was scored by Joseph Atule in the 28th minute.

El-Kanemi Warriors struggled to score an equalizer, succumbing to Enyimba’s relentless pressure.

 

Rangers 1-1 Akwa United

At the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Rangers and Akwa United played out a tactical 1-1 draw. Both teams exhibited disciplined defensive structures, limiting clear-cut chances.

Akwa United took the lead in the first half through Kabir Osoba but Isaac Saviour equalized for the hosts three minutes into the second half resulting in a stalemate.

 

Heartland 1-1 Bayelsa United

The Awka City Stadium hosted a thrilling encounter where Heartland were held by Bayelsa United to a 1-1 draw.

Bayelsa United struck first in the 54th minute but Heartland leveled the score just six minutes later as both sides settled for a point apiece.
