On Thursday, February 27, 2025, two Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matches were held, featuring Rivers United vs. Katsina United and Bendel Insurance vs. Ikorodu City.
The first match of the day between Rivers United and Katsina United was called off due to heavy rainfall. The downpour disrupted the game at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt which prompted the league body to call off the game.
Ubong Friday had given Rivers United the lead in the 17th minute before the rain began. However, the first half was competed and the NPFL management decided to call off the game as the players did not returned to the pitch for the second half.
The second half have now been rescheduled for 9am on Friday.
In Benin City, Bendel Insurance edged out Ikorodu City with game finishing 2-1 in favour of the hosts.
Bendel Insurance opened the scoring in the 51st minute through Stephen Okorom. The lead lasted just two minutes when Shola Adelani found the back of the net to draw the visitors level. However, Bendel fought back and secured the win in the 69th minute with a goal from forward, Uche Collins.
The win means Bendel Insurance now has 38 points, placing them 8th on the table, while Ikorodu City also stands at 38 points in 7th position.
