It was a flurry of home wins in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) as six matches went down in different venues across the country on Sunday.
Rivers United lost their lead on the table as they fell to a narrow defeat against Rangers in Enugu after a 16th minute effort from Collins Ugwueze proved enough to separate the two sides.
The slip up was capitalized on by Remo Stars as they returned to winning ways and to the top of the table with a resounding 2-0 victory over El Kanemi Warriors, courtesy of goals from Peter Onuoha and Kwame Mawuena.
Abba Adam scored what proved to be the winner for Kano Pillars as they hosted Katsina United in the northern derby while Bayelsa United defeated Ikorodu City 1-0 courtesy of a 79th minute goal by Rabiu Abdullahi.
It was a goal fest in Jos as Plateau United came from behind to defeat Heartland 3-2 with Mafeng Pam securing the three points at the death. A late goal by Ahmed Family was had no effect as Niger Tornadoes fell at Aba, losing 2-1 to Abia Warriors.
Gameweek 16 ended with Remo Stars on top of the table with 29 points albeit on goal difference. They are followed closely by Rivers United who also have 29 points but with a lesser goal difference. Rangers sit in third with 27 points.
Lobi Stars, Bendel and Akwa United sit in the relegation zone.
