Official! NFF unveil Eric Chelle as new Super Eagles coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have presented Eric Chelle to the fans and media as the new Super Eagles at the unveiling ceremony in Abuja

The Nigeria Football Federation has unveiled Eric Chelle as the new head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria. 

The unveiling ceremony took place at the media conference center of the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Monday.

Eric Chelle raised the Super Eagles home jersey with is name and preferred number on it as well its scarf across his shoulder during the official presentation.

NFF president Ibrahim Gusau, the technical director of the federation, Austin Eguavoen among other officials of the football body were present at the ceremony.

Eric Chelle was full of smiles as he exchanged pleasantries with Austin Eguavoen just before the commencement of the unveiling.

 

He says coaching the Super Eagles is a rare opportunity and he will do his best to lead the team to success.

“I want to thank my agent, the NFF, the NSC and indeed all Nigerians for this big opportunity. “Coaching the Super Eagles of Nigeria is an amazing job; I do not take this appointment for granted. I am elated and will do my utmost best.

“Football is about scoring goals, so I favour an attacking style. I know the expectations of Nigerians and I will settle down and work diligently with assistants towards the goal of qualifying the Super Eagles to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.”

The 47-year-old coach added that Nigeria was his favorite team while growing up. he also added that he loves scoring goals and the Super Eagles won’t be an exception.

“When I was young, Nigeria was my favorite team”

He also thanked Nigerians, the NFF and the National Sports Commission for the opportunity to coach the Super Eagles.

Eric Chelle is saddled with the responsibility of qualifying the Super Eagles for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Super Eagles risk not qualifying for a consecutive FIFA World Cup after a poor start to the qualification series with three points after four matches.
