Nigerian attacking midfielder Valentine Ugwu has officially completed a transfer to newly promoted side Sporting Lagos from fellow Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Abia Warriors ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The highly rated youngster joins the Lagos-based club as Sporting Lagos continue to strengthen their squad for the new campaign. Renowned for his creativity, technical quality and attacking flair, Ugwu is expected to add greater depth and dynamism to the club’s midfield as they aim to challenge in the NPFL.

Sporting Lagos announced the signing on Thursday, welcoming the midfielder to the club and expressing confidence that he will play an important role in the team’s ambitions this season. The move represents a fresh chapter in Ugwu’s career after his development at Abia Warriors.

“Midfielder, Valentine Ugwu joins us on a permanent deal” Sporting Lagos announced 

While the financial details of the transfer and the length of his contract have not been disclosed, Ugwu arrives with high expectations and will be eager to establish himself as a key player for the Noisy Lagosians.

The midfielder now begins preparations with his new teammates ahead of the 2026/27 NPFL campaign, where Sporting Lagos will be aiming to build on their project and compete strongly in Nigerian football.
