Victor Osimhen and his Galatasaray teammates are set to receive a large following following the victory over Fenerbahçe in the intercontinental derby on Sunday.
Osimhen and his teammates will pocket a massive €5 million bonus (approximately ₦8 billion) after thrashing arch-rivals Fenerbahce 3-0.
Victor Osimhen scored the opener in Sunday’s Intercontinental Derby at Rams Park as Galatasaray edged closer to winning their 36th Turkish Super Lig title.
Barış Alper Yılmaz and Lucas Torreira later added the other goals to seal a convincing win for the Lions.
The result strengthens Galatasaray’s position in the Super Lig title race, as they now lead Fenerbahce by seven points and edge closer to securing a fourth consecutive league title.
Osimhen and his teammates are now set to ve get a reward for the win over their arch rivals.
According to Turkish sports outlet Fanatik, club president Dursun Özbek confirmed that the players will receive the €5 million bonus for the win, one of the biggest financial rewards the club has offered in recent times.
The 27-year-old Nigerian striker, despite injury setbacks, has been a key figure in Galatasaray’s title chase, recording an impressive 20 goals and 7 assists in 31 appearances across all competitions this season.
With just one more win needed to clinch the Super Lig, Osimhen is on the verge of claiming his second Turkish Super Lig title with Galatasaray.
Galatasaray will face Samsunspor on Saturday as they look to wrap up the league with two games to spare.
Meanwhile, Osimhen is unlikely to retain his golden boot award as his countryman, Paul Onuachu, currently leads the scorers chart, having scored 22 goals in 27 matches.
The Trabzonspor striker has been arguably the best player in the Turkish Super Lig this season, and he is on course to help the club reach the Champions League league phase phase through the qualifiers.
