Osimhen hits target as Galatasaray claims continental derby win over Fenerbache

Victor Osimhen found the back of the net for the 20th time this season as Galatasaray sealed a comfortable win over rivals Fenerbache at the Rams Park.

The Nigerian striker scored with an improvised technique in the box to give the hosts the opener five minutes before the break.

Fenerbache came into the tie with the hope of getting a win to close in on the league leaders but the the opportunity for a good start.

Brazilian forward Talisca missed a penalty fourteen minutes into the derby after a foul on a Fenerbache player in the box.

The former Al Nassr man fired off target to the relief of the home fans and anguish of the visitors.

Osimhen put Galatasaray ahead in the 40th minute after swiftly controlling a headed pass from Mario Lemina in the box before placing the ball into the top corner.

Lucas Torreira doubled the lead a few minutes after the break but his goal was ruled offside.

Fenerbache’s attempt to get back into the game was hampered as Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson picked up his second caution reducing the visitors to 10-men.

The defending champions took advantage of the numerical deficit as Baris Yilmaz doubled the lead five minutes later from the penalty spot.

Lucas Torreira eventually got on the score sheet from a defensive error as Galatasaray wrapped up a 3-0 win to edge closer to retaining their Turkish Super Lig.
