Nigerian footballer Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray, has been accused of assaulting a journalist in Istanbul.
The incident reportedly occurred as Osimhen was leaving an entertainment venue with friends. Journalist Tolga Bozduman alleges that Osimhen reacted aggressively when he and his colleagues attempted to photograph the striker, leading to a physical altercation.
Osimhen has firmly denied these allegations, stating that while he was surprised by the sudden appearance of cameras, he did not physically assault anyone.
According to Osimhen, after dining with friends, he was approached by individuals who suddenly began photographing him without prior notice. He expressed surprise and questioned their actions, asking, “What’s the problem? Why are you popping cameras in front of my face?” The individuals identified themselves as paparazzi.
Osimhen’s friends intervened, advising the photographers against such unprofessional behavior. Osimhen emphasized that he did not physically assault anyone; instead, he requested that the unauthorized photos be deleted, asserting his right to control his image.
Osimhen also announced plans to pursue legal action against the journalist for defamation. He stated, “If I hit him, he will get justice. If he’s lying, he will face the consequences. I will take the necessary legal steps to ensure the truth prevails.”
The incident has garnered significant media attention. As the situation develops, further details are expected to emerge, shedding more light on the events of that evening.
