Newcastle United delivered a commanding performance on Wednesday night, dismantling Crystal Palace 5-0 at St. James’ Park to ascend to third place in the Premier League standings.

This victory marks their sixth consecutive win across all competitions, reinforcing their pursuit of Champions League qualification.

Despite the absence of manager Eddie Howe, who is recovering from pneumonia, assistant coach Jason Tindall oversaw a dominant display from the Magpies.

The hosts surged ahead early, with Jacob Murphy opening the scoring in the 14th minute with a powerful strike from a tight angle.

Murphy continued to influence the game, providing an assist for Fabian Schär’s header just before halftime.

An own goal by Palace defender Marc Guéhi and a composed finish from Harvey Barnes extended the lead to 4-0 by halftime.

In the second half, Alexander Isak added a fifth goal with a curling shot, bringing his season tally to 21 goals.

The comprehensive victory places Newcastle five points ahead of sixth-placed Chelsea, bolstering their position in the race for a top-five finish and a coveted Champions League spot.

Crystal Palace, who had recently shown improved form, struggled defensively throughout the match and failed to capitalize on their scoring opportunities. The defeat leaves them in 12th place, with 43 points from 32 games.
