Premier League April Awards: Pep Guardiola, Slot, Emery nominated for Manager of the Month

The nominees for Premier League Manager of the Month is out, needless to say Liverpool’s Arne Slot made the list.

Arme Slot delivered Liverpool’s second Premier League title – their 20th in history after a comprehensive win over Tottenham on Sunday.

Other nominees include Aston Villa’s Unai Emery, Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola, Wolverhampton’s Viktor Pereira and Newcastle’s Eddie Howe.

1. Pep Guardiola

Manchester City enjoyed a good run in April with four wins in five matches. The former champions kept two clean sheets against rivals Manchester United and Everton. Pep Guardiola’s men ended the month with a dramatic late win over Aston Villa at the Etihad.

2. Arne Slot

The month started with a narrow Merseyside derby win at Anfield. Slot en route to winning the Premier League title in his first season only lost one game on April – the 3-2 loss to away at Fulham. However, the Reds put the defeat behind as they tore apart Tottenham 5-1 to win their 20th title in the English top flight.

3. Unai Emery

The Spanish manager enjoyed a good run of results in April with impressive home wins over Newcastle and Nottingham Forest and road wins over Brighton and Southampton. Aston Villa only lost a game – Manchester City’s late winner at the Etihad.

4. Eddie Howe

Newcastle scored the most goal – 18 in April with victories over Manchester United, Brentford, Ipswich, Leicester City and Crystal Palace. Only Aston Villa denied them maximum points as they moved to the third spot on the log.

5. Viktor Pereira

The Portuguese manager led Wolves to five wins in five matches. Wolves had two clean sheets against Manchester United, Westham and Leicester City and secured wins over Ipswich and Tottenham Hotspur to pick fifteen points which secured their safety in the league.

Meanwhile, seven players were nominated for the Player of the Month Award.

1. Alexis Macallister

The Liverpool midfielder helped Liverpool secure their 20th title with two goals and an assist. The World Cup winner powered a ferocious strike into goal in the loss at Fulham, provided the assist for Van Dijk’s late winner against Fulham. He also scored in the 5-1 demolition of Tottenham which secured the title.

2. Jacob Murphy

The English midfielder had a fantastic April with threw goals and three assists as he helped the Magpies move to number three on the Premier League table.

3. Morgan Rodgers

The attacking midfielder had a stellar outing last month with four assists and a goal in five matches. Rodgers provided two assists in the 3-0 win at Brighton. He also helped in the wins over Southampton and Newcastle with an assist each. His only goal in April came in the 2-1 over Nottingham Forest.

4. Rayan Ait-Nouri

The Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back helped his side keep clean sheets against Manchester and Westham United and Leicester City. The Algerian defender scored and provided two assists as Wolves won all their matches in April.

5. Harvey Barnes

The English winger bagged a brace in the 4-1 drubbing of Manchester United. He scored in the 3-0 win ovee his former team Leicester City and in the 5-0 win over Crystal Palace. He had an assist in the win over Brighton and the 4-1 loss at Aston Villa.

6. Ryan Sessegnon

The Fulham winger scored two goals and provided two assists as well in a month Fulham kept their chase for an European ticket alive.

7. Jorgen Strand Larsen (Wolves)

The big striker scored four goals in five matches in April as he helped Wolves bag 15 points from a possible 15 in the month.
