The Premier League title race took another twist on Wednesday night as Manchester City sent a resounding message to leaders Arsenal. With the Gunners playing tomorrow, Pep Guardiola’s side seized the opportunity, producing a blistering first-half display to keep the pressure firmly on the top spot and closely behind Arsenal.

While the battle at the summit intensified, the relegation dogfight took an agonizing turn for two sides struggling to find form. In a night defined by clinical finishing and desperate defending, we did not witness a significant change at the bottom of the table, setting up a thrilling run-in for European qualification and survival alike.

Here is the roundup of the action that shook the Premier League this Wednesday.

Etihad Stadium: City Cruises Past Fulham

Premier League Match: Manchester City vs Fulham

Manchester City wasted no time announcing their dominance over Fulham. The first goal of the match came in the 18th minute when Antoine Semenyo slotted home to give the hosts the lead. Fulham struggled to contain City’s fluid attack, and in the 32nd minute, Semenyo turned provider, setting up youngster Nico O’Reilly who  doubled the advantage for the Citizens.

Mings the Hero for Aston Villa

In a tight contest at Villa Park, Aston Villa managed to edge past Brighton & Hove Albion. For long periods, it looked as though Brighton would snatch a point, with the visitors holding firm and creating chances on the counter, always catching Aston Villa who were desperately searching for a win on the run.

However, the deadlock was broken late in the 82nd minute through an unlikely goalscorer. Tyrone Mings rose highest to head home a corner, securing a vital 1-0 win for Unai Emery’s side.

Aston Villa solidified their hold on 3rd place with 47 points, closely monitoring for an opportunity to contest for the title, while Brighton sits in 14th.

Forest Waste Chance to Escape

The match at the City Ground was a tale of missed opportunities for Nottingham Forest. Dominating possession and attacking relentlessly, Forest managed an incredible 35 shots on goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers, but could not find a way past a stubborn Wolves defense and goalkeeper.

The frustration was palpable among the home fans as the game ended in a 0-0 draw. Forest remained in 17th, just outside the relegation zone. Wolves are rooted to the bottom of the table on the 20th.

Burnley Edge Thriller

In the highest-scoring game of the night, Burnley secured a massive away win against Crystal Palace, finishing 3-2. A chaotic first half saw Palace take the lead, only for Burnley to storm back.

A late goal ensured Burnley took all three points, leaving Palace stunned and looking nervously over their shoulders. Burnley jumps to 19th but remains in the relegation battle. Palace is now 13th on the table.

Van Dijk Sets Up Red Victory

In the late kickoff, Liverpool claimed a crucial 1-0 win over Sunderland. The first half was cagey, with Sunderland defending bravely to keep the Reds at bay.

The breakthrough finally came in the 61stminute from a set-piece. Virgil van Dijk rose highest to meet a corner, powering a header down that deflected in off a Sunderland defender. Liverpool held onto the slim lead to secure the three points. Liverpool moved to 6th on the table  with 39 points, and behind Manchester United and Chelsea who are 4th and 5th respectively. Sunderland sits in 11th.
