Premier League Roundup: Man United, Chelsea struggle, Brighton stun Spurs

Erik ten Hag remains confident he has the backing of Manchester United’s hierarchy despite their dismal start to the Premier League season. Sunday’s 0-0 draw at Aston Villa did little to alleviate pressure on the under-fire boss.

United’s lackluster display saw them struggle to break down Villa’s defense. Bruno Fernandes’ second-half free-kick clipped the bar, but Diogo Dalot’s crucial block on Jaden Philogene’s shot prevented a damaging defeat.

United’s troubles are mounting. After finishing eighth last season, their worst finish since 1990, they currently sit 14th with just two wins in seven league games.

Elsewhere, Tottenham’s collapse at Brighton stunned the Premier League. Brennan Johnson’s clinical strike and James Maddison’s goal put Spurs 2-0 up, but Brighton staged an incredible comeback to win 3-2.

Chelsea’s five-match winning streak ended with a 1-1 draw against 10-man Nottingham Forest. Noni Madueke’s equalizer rescued the Blues after Chris Wood’s strike put Forest ahead.
