Against the run of play, Manchester City surged ahead with Haaland tapping in Rico Lewis’ cross, followed by Tijjani Reijnders’ sharp first-time finish after Oscar Bobb’s breakaway pass.
Wolves fought back after halftime, with Jørgen Strand Larsen hitting the side-netting and forcing a save from James Trafford.
However, City sealed the win just past the hour as Haaland side-footed Reijnders’ cutback for his 10th Premier League goal against Wolves, more than against any other team.
Late on, new signing Rayan Cherki curled a neat finish into the bottom corner, capping a clinical display.
Wolves’ loss and underwhelming performance highlight just how tough this season will be, while City’s commanding victory propels them to the top of the Premier League table early in the 2025-26 season.
