Liverpool star man Mohammed Salah scored the last spot kick that knocked out Ivory Coast in yesterday’s round of 16 match to move into the quarter finals of this year’s AFCON.
The clash between two African heavyweights was keenly contested with both sides going all out but there was no goal to show for the entertaining display the two teams. Both teams played out a goalless draw after extra time which led straight to penalties. Ivory Coast scored 4 out of their 5 spot kick but Eric Bailly missed his side’s third while the Egyptians scored all 5 with Salah converting the last and the most important one.
Egypt will be battling it out against fellow north African side Morocco for a place in the semi-finals on the Sunday 30th of January.
